Why Joining Flinq as a NED Was an Easy Decision

We asked Paul Fosse about what made him join Flinq as a Non-Executive Director and this is what he had to say about it.

Why Joining Flinq as a NED Was an Easy Decision

I’m thrilled to announce my new role as a Non-Executive Director at Flinq. This decision was straightforward for several reasons:

The Team

From the moment I first met the Flinq founders, I was struck by their integrity and commitment. These are people who genuinely care about what they are building — not just as a business, but as something that makes a real difference to the firms and clients they serve.

In my experience, the success of any venture ultimately comes down to the people behind it. You can have the best product in the world, but without a team that has the right values, the right drive, and the right chemistry, it will not reach its potential. With Flinq, I saw a team that has all three in abundance.

Their backgrounds span trust administration, banking, technology, and financial services — a combination that is uniquely suited to tackling the challenges of client cash management. But more than their skills, it is their character that impressed me most. They are honest, straightforward, and deeply committed to doing the right thing for their clients.

People First

Flinq operates with a people-first philosophy that goes beyond a slogan on the wall. It is embedded in how they make decisions, how they treat their team, and how they engage with clients and partners.

In a world where technology companies are often accused of prioritising growth at all costs, Flinq takes a different approach. They understand that their platform is only as good as the relationships it supports. Technology is the enabler, but people are the purpose.

This people-first approach extends to how they build their product. Every feature, every design decision, and every integration is considered through the lens of the end user. Will this make someone’s day easier? Will this reduce frustration? Will this help them serve their clients better? If the answer is not a clear yes, it does not make the cut.

Pride, Ownership, and Accountability

One of the things that struck me most about the Flinq team is the pride they take in their work. There is a genuine sense of ownership — not just of the product, but of the outcomes it delivers for clients.

When a client achieves better yields, when an operational process is streamlined, when a previously manual task is automated — the team celebrates these wins as if they were their own. Because in a very real sense, they are.

This ownership comes with accountability. The team does not hide behind technology or process when things do not go perfectly. They take responsibility, communicate openly, and work relentlessly to resolve issues. In a sector where trust is everything, this accountability is invaluable.

Client Focused

At the heart of everything Flinq does is a relentless focus on the client. Not the abstract concept of “the client” that appears in corporate mission statements, but the real people who use the platform every day to manage cash for their own clients.

The team spends significant time understanding the day-to-day reality of their users. They visit client offices, sit with administrators and treasury teams, and observe how work actually gets done. This deep understanding of the client experience informs every aspect of the product.

The result is a platform that feels like it was built by people who truly understand the challenges of managing client cash in a TCSP environment — because it was.

Relationships Over Revenue

Flinq takes a long-term view of relationships. They would rather build a deep, lasting partnership with a client than chase short-term revenue. This is reflected in their pricing model, their approach to onboarding, and the ongoing support they provide.

They are not interested in locking clients into long contracts or charging for every minor customisation. Their model is built on delivering value — and they are confident that if they do that consistently, the commercial outcomes will follow.

This approach resonates with me deeply. In my career, the most successful business relationships I have seen have always been those built on genuine partnership rather than transactional exchange. Flinq embodies this philosophy.

Tech with a Human Touch

Flinq is undeniably a technology company. Their platform is sophisticated, well-engineered, and constantly evolving. But what sets them apart is the human touch that sits alongside the technology.

They understand that adopting new technology can be daunting, particularly for firms that have relied on manual processes for years. So they invest heavily in onboarding, training, and ongoing support. They do not just hand over a login and a user manual — they walk alongside their clients through every step of the journey.

When a client has a question, they get a human response from someone who understands their context and their challenges. When something goes wrong, they get a real conversation, not a ticket number. This combination of cutting-edge technology and genuine human support is rare, and it is one of the things that made my decision to join so easy.

Life is short, and it is about building a team you want to work with outside of work. The Flinq team is exactly that — a group of people I genuinely enjoy spending time with, who share my values, and who are building something I truly believe in. I could not be more excited about the journey ahead.
